The beCause Health Medical Cost Sharing Community, a Covenant HealthShare, Inc. Benevolence fund (hereinafter “Sedera”), is not an insurance company nor is it insurance. Membership in beCause Health is not issued or offered by an insurance company. Whether a member/household chooses to provide monetary assistance to you and/or your household to help with your medical expenses is entirely voluntary. Neither you nor beCause Health has any right to compel payment of medical cost sharing costs from any member. A membership with beCause Health should never be considered similar to a group insurance policy or an individual insurance policy.

Transparency in Healthcare Sharing Ministry:

It is important to understand that these ministries are not insurance providers. Instead, they function as communities where members voluntarily contribute funds to assist fellow members with their medical expenses. Unlike insurance policies, participation in a healthcare sharing ministry is entirely optional, and members decide whether or not to provide financial support to other members in need. Neither the individual seeking assistance nor the healthcare sharing ministry can demand or require payment from its members.

A healthcare sharing ministry should not be viewed as an insurance policy, either group or individual, as it operates on principles of voluntary financial assistance among its members. It's crucial to recognize these distinctions when considering participation in such a community.

In your capacity as a member of this Healthcare Sharing Ministry, it is crucial to understand that regardless of whether you receive financial assistance for medical expenses or if this membership continues to operate, you will always be personally responsible for any unpaid medical bills. You do not possess any legal entitlement to seek reimbursement or indemnification for such expenses from beCause Health, Covenant Health Share Inc., or any other member or household.

This agreement does not constitute a legally binding commitment to reimburse or indemnify you for your incurred medical costs. Instead, it serves as an opportunity for you to assist fellow members in need and, when you find yourself in need, to present your medical bills to other members and households in accordance outlined guidelines. Any financial assistance received will be provided by fellow members and/or households that are managed through the beCause Health Medical Cost Sharing Community, a Covenant HealthShare Inc. Benevolence fund.

beCause Health is currently NOT accepting new Members in the following states:

CA, DC, IL, MA, MD, MT, NJ, NM, NY, PA, RI, VT, and WA.

If your state is not listed above, a Medical Cost Sharing Expert would be happy to discuss becoming a Member. Please

contact us here.

In addition, there may be other states where beCause Health cannot and/or does not pay referral fees for the referral of new Members. This list currently includes:

- Pennsylvania

- Maryland

- Montana

Please note: This page will be updated to accurately reflect the current status of the states in which beCause Health is not currently accepting new Members. beCause Health reserves the right to update this list at any time without notice.

Refund Policy

beCause Health does not offer partial contributions. Medical Cost Sharing is based on advance Member contributions to meet Needs for that month. Advance Member contributions enable the beCause Health Medical Cost Sharing Community to ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet Member Needs for that month. Payments are applied each month to meet Member Needs as they occur.

SELECT+ Refund and Billing Changes Policy

As outlined in the List Bill Agreement:

It is the responsibility of the list bill entity (employer) to review the draft bill that is sent on the 21st of each month. Corrections must be submitted no later than noon on the last business day of the month. Changes submitted after the deadline may not be effective until next month's List Bill. beCause Health, as a general rule, does not backdate membership changes.This includes adjustments to start dates, membership elections, or member cancellations. Exceptions are reviewed and approved on a case by case basis.

ACCESS+ Refund Policy

beCause Health does not refund Access+ membership contributions. Exceptions may be made for technical failures related to membership change requests. Last Updated: 09-09-2022
